Sales tax holiday begins May 28

HOLT, Fla., May 14, 2021—The 2021 Florida Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday runs from May 28 through June 7.

During this 10-day sales tax holiday period, qualifying items related to disaster preparedness are exempt from sales tax.

Qualifying items include: 

  • flashlights and lanterns under $40
  • radios under $50
  • tarps under $100
  • coolers under $60
  • batteries under $50
  • generators under $1,000

Rental or repair of any of the qualifying items is not included in the sales tax holiday.

The six-month-long 2021 Atlantic hurricane season begins June 1 and runs through Nov. 30.

The National Hurricane Center will begin issuing tropical weather outlooks tomorrow, 15 days earlier than in previous years.
