Inmate injures jail corrections officer

CRESTVIEW, Fla., Sept. 17, 2021—A Baker man awaiting trial on a 2019 murder charge attacked a corrections officer early this morning at the Okaloosa County Jail in Crestview.

Emanual Lamar O’Neil Colley, 25, attacked the officer who led him back to his cell unshackled around 3:19 a.m.

Colley was instructed to go into his cell but he refused and lunged toward the officer, punching him several times in the face, breaking his nose, blackening both eyes and chipping two teeth.

Colley, who is being held on an Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office murder warrant in connection with a stabbing death in Baker in 2019, is now charged with aggravated battery on an officer and aggravated battery by an incarcerated person.

Colley has three previous convictions for battery.
