Single-car I-10 accident results in injuries

HOLT, Fla., March 27, 2022—Three people were injured in a single-car accident on Interstate 10 today.

The male driver, 27, from Bonifay, and a 1-year-old baby boy from DeFuniak Springs, suffered minor injuries. A 24-year-old female passenger, also from DeFuniak Springs, was airlifted to the hospital with critical injuries, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.

A blue Chevrolet sedan was traveling westbound in the inside lane of I-10 near mile marker 48 around 10:45 a.m. when it crossed lanes and ran off the road on the north side of the highway, according to the release.

The car collided with a tree and overturned.

Interstate 10 was closed for about 45 minutes as Holt Fire District, Crestview Fire Department, Okaloosa County EMS, Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, Florida Highway Patrol and Okaloosa MedFlight responded to the accident.

All lanes were clear by 11:50 a.m.
