Potential for severe weather Friday

HOLT, Fla., May 4, 2022—The potential for severe weather returns for Northwest Florida Friday as a storm system moves across the area.

For now, Okaloosa County is in a level 1 out of 5 risk area. Portions of counties to the west are under a level 2 risk for severe weather.

Damaging winds and possibly large hail will be the main concerns; however, as always, a few tornadoes are also possible, according to the National Weather Service.

Timing remains to be determined, but thunderstorm activity could begin in the pre-dawn hours with the more severe weather in the afternoon.

Showers and a few thunderstorms may continue into Saturday, according to the NWS.
