CRESTVIEW, Fla., May 23, 2022—A DeFuniak Springs man died today in a two-vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 90 near Mare Creek Drive in Deerfield.

A pickup truck driven by the 53-year-old Defuniak Springs man was traveling east on Hwy 90 around 3 p.m. when he appeared to lose control and ran on the south shoulder of the road, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.

The pickup traveled back onto the highway and crossed into the westbound lane in front of a dump truck driven by a Crestview man where the driver’s front side of the pickup hit the front of the truck, according to the release.

The accident closed Hwy 90 and traffic was diverted at State Roads 393 and 285. As of 6:45 p.m., the highway was still closed as FHP continues to investigate the accident.
