New possible named storm in Caribbean

HOLT, Fla., Oct. 30, 2022—The National Hurricane Center is looking at a disturbance in the Caribbean Sea they’ve identified as Potential Tropical Cyclone 15.

Strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours and the system is expected to become a tropical storm tonight. When it forms, it will be named Lisa.

The system could be near hurricane intensity by Tuesday night, according to the NHC.

On a westward track, landfall as category 1 Hurricane Lisa is expected around Wednesday or Thursday along the coast of Belize.

Jamaica and the Cayman Islands have issued tropical storm watches for their areas.
