WALTON COUNTY, Fla., April 1, 2023—A Ponce DeLeon teen speeding away from law enforcement caused a crash on Interstate 10 yesterday shutting down traffic.

The 15-year-old female was racing westbound on I-10 while being chased by a marked Holmes County Sheriff’s Office vehicle around 4 p.m., according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.

Near mile marker 89, she crossed the median and entered the eastbound lanes of traffic directly in the path of an Orlando pickup truck hauling a trailer.

An SUV from Fort Walton Beach and a sedan from Pensacola ran into the trailer.

Miraculously, no one was hurt with only the fleeing 15-year-old receiving minor injuries, according to the release.

The eastbound lanes of I-10 were closed due to the vehicles and debris.
