Town halls, BOCC approval for north Okaloosa growth public priorities presented

HOLT, Fla., May 6, 2024—The next public events as part of the north Okaloosa future development planning study occur tonight and tomorrow as the company presents its public priorities report to the county.

The first of two town hall meetings conducted by Inspire Placemaking Collective is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Crestview Community Center today. It will be followed by a second town hall held at Baker School tomorrow at 6 p.m.

Additionally, the public priorities report is an agenda item for approval by the Okaloosa County Board of County Commissioners during tomorrow’s regularly scheduled commissioners meeting beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the count courthouse in Crestview.

This report outlines public priorities gathered during the March 25 and 27 workshops held in Baker and Crestview, as well as information gathered from inputs online and other communication channels such as email and social media.

A copy of the report can be found on the study website as well as in the online meeting packet for tomorrow’s commissioners meeting.

During tomorrow’s commissioners meeting, the Florida Farm Bureau is scheduled to attend to voice its concerns regarding growth management and the preservation of farmland in Okaloosa County in regards to the north end.

All meetings are open to the public; however, seating in the county courthouse is limited.
