HOLT, Fla., July 4, 2025—Tropical Depression Three formed off the southeast U.S. coast this afternoon.

It is forecast to develop into Tropical Storm Chantal tomorrow as it moves north-northwest before turning north toward the South Carolina coast tomorrow night and Sunday.

Air Force Reserve Hurricane Hunter data indicated a well-defined center of circulation earlier this afternoon.

A tropical storm watch has been issued for Edisto Beach to Little River Inlet in South Carolina. Tropical storm conditions are possible in the watch area beginning tomorrow and continuing through Sunday morning.

Heavy rainfall is forecast across the coastal Carolinas with isolated flash flooding possible.
