2026 Hurricane Awareness Tour visits Mobile

MOBILE, Ala., April 21, 2026—Hurricane experts from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the U.S. Air Force will visit Mobile May 5.

They will be flying aboard an Air Force Reserve WC-130J hurricane hunter aircraft, a NOAA WP-3D Orion aircraft, a NOAA G-IV and a NOAA King Air.

The purpose of this event is to raise awareness of the impacts of tropical cyclones and the danger of being caught without a personal hurricane plan.

When: May 5, 2-4 p.m.
Gates close to the public at 3 p.m.

Where: Mobile International Airport
             2455 Michigan Ave.

Admission is FREE

Things to do:

  • Tour the Hurricane Hunter aircraft
  • Meet the pilots and flight crew
  • Speak with hurricane forecasters
  • Meet with local National Weather Service meteorologists
  • Walk through exhibits from various agencies and organizations
  • Learn about weather safety and preparedness
