Traffic stop leads to seizure of drugs, weapon

CRESTVIEW, Fla., June 4, 2026—An Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office traffic stop in Crestview yesterday resulted in the arrest of two individuals and the seizure of suspected drugs, cash and a handgun equipped with an illegal machine gun conversion device.

Naasir Wright was charged with trafficking in fentanyl, possession of a machine gun, drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest without violence.

Christopher Rogers was charged with resisting arrest without violence.

According to an OCSO news release, deputies initiated a traffic stop on a gray Chevrolet Equinox after observing a traffic violation near the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue and South Lloyd Street.

As the vehicle slowed to a stop, two passengers fled on foot while the driver left the area in the vehicle.

Deputies quickly apprehended both passengers following a brief foot pursuit.

During the investigation, deputies recovered a backpack allegedly carried by one of the fleeing passengers.

Inside were approximately 39 grams of a substance that field-tested positive for fentanyl, approximately $2,400 in cash and a Glock 17 handgun equipped with a “switch,” an illegal conversion device that allows a semi-automatic firearm to function as a fully automatic weapon.

The firearm was also equipped with a 30-round magazine.

The investigation remains active.
