HOLT, Fla., Sept. 28, 2017–The National HurricaneService has increased the possibility of a tropical system developing in the Florida Straits.
This large area of cloudiness and showers extending from the Cayman Islands northward across Cuba to the Florida Straits will likely develop into a weak area of low pressure as it moves northward across the Straits near south Florida’s east coast during the next few days.
This area could develop further before upper-level winds become less favorable Sunday.
Further formation during the next five days is now at 50 percent.
