Hurricane Nate strengthened during the night. Still moving at 22 mph, the storm is packing 85-mph winds which could reach 90 mph by landfall tonight.

The Florida Park Service has closed panhandle parks in anticipation of the arrival of Tropical Storm Nate.

A Fort Walton Beach high school student was arrested Oct. 5 for posting a threat against the school.

Gov. Scott declares state of emergency ahead of TS Nate

In anticipation of a Florida landfall or other effects from Tropical Storm Nate, the governor has declared a state of emergency in 29 counties. Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, Escambia and Walton counties are included in the declaration.
