HOLT, Fla., Nov. 7, 2017–Crestview’s second Publix grocery store is scheduled for its grand opening Wednesday at 8 a.m.
Located on North Ferdon Boulevard across from the newly updated Winn Dixie grocery store, the new 45,600-square-foot Publix will have the traditional meat, produce, dairy and frozen food departments, as well as a bakery and deli, floral and fresh seafood departments and a drive-through pharmacy.
A separate Publix Liquors store will be open next door to the main grocery on the other side of the pharmacy drive-through.
“We are pleased and excited to have the opportunity to serve the beautiful community of Crestview and anxious to provide an exemplary customer shopping experience, along with superior products our customers have grown accustomed to,” said Dwaine Stevens, Publix media and community relations manager for this region, in a news release.
In addition to the Publix stores, there are five smaller storefronts built as part of the Publix complex, as well as a Wendy’s restaurant in the northwest corner of the property that make up the rest of the new Northcrest Shopping Center.
Crestview’s first Publix opened in December 2001 at the intersection of South Ferdon Boulevard and West Redstone Avenue, approximately 4 miles south of the newest store location. The 46,000-square-foot store is slightly larger than the new one.
Beginning Thursday, store hours will be 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily and will employ more than 145 associates.
Privately owned, Publix was founded in Winter Haven, Fla., in 1930 and now employs more than 188,000 people. It is the largest employee-owned grocery chain in the United States with a retail sales of $134 billion in 2016.
Publix operates 1,158 store in Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Virginia, and North and South Carolina.
The company has been named one of Fortune’s “100 Best Companies to Work For in America” for 20 consecutive years, according to Stevens.
