SHALIMAR, Fla., Feb. 5, 2018–A Crestview area man was taken into custody shortly after 4 p.m. today in connection with a domestic violence-related incident at his home on Barnes Road.

Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office deputies say 72-year-old Thomas Davis Sr. battered his wife with a wooden coffee table leg earlier today, then fired a shotgun at her, his son and his daughter-in-law as they fled the scene to get away from him.

His daughter-in-law, Sharon Davis, was struck by a ricocheting pellet in the neck. Davis’ wife was injured in the beating and both are being treated at North Okaloosa Medical Center.

Deputies were initially told Davis fled into the woods. Another witness thought he was still inside the house.

Sheriff’s deputies set up a perimeter and began an area search while they kept an eye on the house. Movement was spotted in a window and Davis ultimately surrendered to verbal commands to come out.

Charges are pending.
