Jeremiah Murphy, 2016 mugshot
The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office charged Jeremiah Murphy, 17, with felony murder in connection with the shooting death of Nancy Kirk Williams of 4189 Painters Branch Road.
Williams was reported missing May 28 by her elderly mother who had been unable to reach her after last speaking with her around 5 p.m. May 26.
OCSO deputies conducting a welfare check last night found Williams on the floor inside a detached garage near her house.
She had dirt and debris on her body and her face was covered with a beach towel.
The medical examiner’s office found multiple deformities on Williams’ head and face and several gunshot wounds on her upper body.
Investigators developed Murphy as a suspect.
Late this afternoon, Murphy told investigators he and an unidentified co-defendant went to Williams’ house May 2 to commit a burglary.
He claims the other person shot Williams outside her home.
Murphy said they went into the house and took cash and a cell phone, and moved Williams’ body into the garage area.
Investigators said Murphy used to date the victim’s granddaughter and had been to the home on numerous occasions.
