HOLT, Fla., June 1, 2018–The 2018 Florida Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday runs from June 1 through 7.
This season’s sales tax holiday is more than twice as long as last year’s.
During this sales tax holiday period, qualifying items related to disaster preparedness are exempt from sales tax.
Qualifying items include: flashlights under $20; fuel containers under $25; batteries and ice chests/coolers under $30; portable radios, tarps, bungees and straps under $50 and generators under $750, among other things.
Rental or repair of any of the qualifying items is not included in the sales tax holiday.
The six-month-long 2018 Atlantic hurricane season begins Friday and runs through Nov. 30.
