HOLT, Fla., June 26, 2018–A Holt man was arrested after an attempted break-in here June 23.

Shannon Harold Burns, 40, from Holt, was arrested and charged with one misdemeanor count of criminal mischief/property damage and one felony count of burglary.
The occupants of the mobile home on Sundance Way were home asleep at 4 a.m. when Burns attempted to break into their home.
The victims were wakened by Burns yelling to let him inside the house.
Burns shattered the locked glass screen door in his attempt to gain access to the home.
Despite the occupant’s warning for Burns to leave, he continue to try to force his way inside. Once Burns realized the homeowner had a weapon he left.
An Okaloosa County Sheriff’s deputy, responding to the call of a burglary in progress, located Burns.
The arrest report states Burns appeared to be under the influence of an illegal narcotic due to profuse sweating and “being unclothed,” according to the arrest report.
Burns told the deputy “he was being chased by a man with a red laser and was running in fear,” according to the arrest report.
A man with a red laser was not found. Additionally, Burns admitted to breaking the glass door, claiming he slipped and fell into it.
