HOLT, Fla., July 22, 2018–High heat and rain are forecast for this area today.
According to the National Weather Service in Mobile, the heat index from Escambia to Okaloosa counties could hit 110 degrees, higher in some places.
High temperature here for today is 95 degrees with 10-to-15 mph winds.
There’s also a 70 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 1 p.m.
Strong-to-severe thunderstorms are possible along Interstate 10 here late this afternoon to early evening.
The NWS says to expect frequent lightning and heavy rain with any of the thunderstorms that do develop.
Localized damaging wind gusts in excess of 60 mph and perhaps some instances of hail will be possible, according to the NWS.
The heat advisory is in effect until 6 p.m.
