Crestview, Fla., July 24, 2018–Two Crestview residents were arrested after police found drugs during a traffic stop July 20.
Craig Laashea Calloway, 40, and April Marie Owens, 26, were arrested on multiple narcotics and other charges
When Crestview Police officers noticed a license trailer tag mounted on a white Ford Focus the afternoon of July 20, they stopped the car at a South Ferdon Boulevard auto parts store.
While a sergeant conducted the traffic stop, a K9 unit performed a free-air sniff.
K9 Officer Kody alerted on the vehicle indicating the presence of narcotics.
A search of the car found a padlocked backpack, a locked silver lockbox and a zippered black case.
A second black lockbox was discovered inside the locked backpack after Calloway provided the key. He and the driver, Owens, both had keys to the silver lockbox.
The black lockbox contained approximately 105 grams of suspected marijuana and 17.8 grams of suspected methamphetaime and several plastic baggies.
The silver lockbox contained a digital scale.
The black zippered bag contained approximately 26.2 grams of suspected meth and another digital scale.
Additionally, the search also revealed a glass pipe believed to be for smoking meth and two air/gas powered pistols in the backpack.
Calloway and Owens were arrested on charges of trafficking in meth and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Owens was also charged with violation of probation or community control and failure to maintain insurance on her car.
Calloway faces an additional charge of possession or sale of a controlled substance.
Both individuals were remanded to Okaloosa County Jail while Kody was rewarded with a chance to play with a favorite toy.
