SHALIMAR, Fla., Sept. 19, 2018–The convenience store on U.S. 90 in Milligan was burglarized early this morning.

Eddie Shook McLeese
Eddie Shook McLeese, 30, from Crestview, was arrested for smashing the front door of the Sunoco Food Mart with a large rock causing $700 damage for $10 worth of merchandise.
Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to an alarm at the store around 2:43 a.m. today and found the front door shattered.
Surveillance video showed a white male with shaggy hair and a beard, wearing blue jeans and a striped blue shirt, break the glass, grab two packs of what turned out to be Native brand cigarettes and a lighter and run out the door.
A photo of the suspect was distributed to OCSO deputies and an off-duty deputy later spotted the suspect on the Yellow River Bridge.
Beside the man was an unopened pack of Native brand cigarettes.
When informed he was under arrest for burglary, McLeese said he would not have done it if the jail had not “stolen” his cigarettes and that “we should call it even.”
McLeese is charged with burglary, criminal mischief and petty theft.
