More rain through weekend

forecastHOLT, Fla., Dec. 8, 2018–There’s more rain in store for this weekend falling on an already saturated ground.

Many locations within the watch area remain saturated from heavy rains last weekend.

As a result, flood warnings are in effect for Shoal River in Crestview, the Blackwater River near Baker and Big Coldwater Creek near Milton.

The National Weather Service is forecasting 2-to-4 inches of rain with locally higher amounts within the NWS Mobile watch area.

Additional rainfall during a short period of time may lead to flash flooding.

The Shoal River flood warning is from Monday afternoon until Tuesday afternoon.

Water is expected to rise above the 8-foot flood stage by Monday afternoon and continue to rise near 8.3 feet by early Tuesday morning.

Areas along the Blackwater River is under a flood warning from Monday morning until Monday evening.

Minor flooding is expected as the river is forecast to rise above its 11-foot flood stage by Monday morning.

At 9.5 feet, the Kennedy and Peaden bridges are flooded upstream.

Minor flooding is expected at Big Coldwater Creek as well. Flood warning is from early Monday afternoon until later in the evening.
