Holt man dies in truck crash

HOLT, Fla., Dec. 30, 2018–A local man died in a truck crash in Santa Rosa County Dec. 28.

Holt resident Chad Thomas, 35, died when his 2003 Chevrolet pickup overturned at the intersection of Bob Pitts and Deacon Bridge roads just west of Holt.

His passenger, Cary Posey, 36, from Milton, was transported to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola and was listed in serious condition.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol release, Thomas was traveling west on Bob Pitts Road around 10:15 p.m. when he spun counterclockwise and wound up southwest in the eastbound lane.

The pickup slid off the roadway, overturned and came to a rest upside down.

Thomas was pronounced dead at the scene.

Posey was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash. It’s unknown if Thomas was wearing his seatbelt.

It is not known if alcohol was a factor in the crash. The accident is still under investigation.
