HOLT, Fla., April 25, 2019—The next round of severe weather is expected this afternoon and evening ahead of a low pressure system.
Scattered-to-numerous thunderstorms are expected with a few strong-to-severe storms with locally heavy rains and possibly hail, according to the National Weather Service.
Damaging straight-line winds are the primary threat; however, a brief tornado will be possible.
Areas to the west in Mississippi and Louisiana are under a tornado watch until 3 p.m.
In Louisiana, two people died when an apparent tornado touched down near the Louisiana Tech University campus in Ruston early this morning.
There were no injuries at the university. The campus was closed today due to storm debris, downed power lines and loss of electricity.
For this area, Friday through next week looks clear with highs in the low 80s and lows in the high 50s.
