Charlie Webb’s 1974 column in the Pensacola News Journal talks about a couple of brothers passing through the Holt area in 1914 who introduced a fishing boat with a motor, something not seen around here before. They used the newfangled boat for sturgeon fishing in the Yellow River at Wilkerson Bluff. Sturgeons caught were shipped north from the Galliver train depot.
