TALLAHASSEE, March 23, 2020–All Florida state parks are closed effective today by order of the governor.
At the direction of Governor Ron DeSantis and to successfully uphold CDC guidance, Florida’s Department of Environmental Protection closed all Florida state parks to the public effective March 23.
The department attempted measures to continue providing resource recreation at state parks, such as limiting operating hours and reducing visitor capacity at parks with high visitation.
However, those measure did not result in the reductions needed to best protect public health and safety as Florida continues to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.
