Severe weather threat this afternoon into tonight

SevereHOLT, Fla., April 19, 2020—A significant severe weather event is expected to impact this area by mid-to-late afternoon and into the evening according to the National Weather Service in Mobile.

All forms of threatening weather is possible with these storms—damaging winds, large hail and tornadoes.

Damaging straight-line winds more than 70 mph will be the biggest threat, according to the NWS.

Strong tornadoes—EF-2+—will be possible this afternoon into tonight. Hail may be quarter-sized or larger.

A wind advisory is in effect from noon through 1 a.m. tomorrow. Gusty southerly winds 15-to-25 mph with 30 mph gusts are expected.
