HOLT, Fla., Aug. 4, 2020—Florida’s single-day virus total climbed back up to more than 10,000 new cases today after a two-day trend of lower numbers.
Yesterday’s 4,700 cases was eclipsed by today’s health department update that more than doubled the state’s number of new cases.
Virus-related deaths across the state, after being less than 75 for two consecutive days, also climbed back up past the 100-death mark. Today’s additional deaths totaled 137.
After holding at 30 total virus-related deaths for three days, Okaloosa County added four more deaths to its total and now has 34.
Closer to home, Baker’s total case number jumped by three to 66. Milligan also added another case for a total of three.
Holt and Laurel Hill still have 20 and 27, respectively.
In Santa Rosa County where positive COVID-19 cases have climbed to more than 3,500 countywide, Milton reached the 2,000-case milestone.
Further west, at more than 8,000 virus cases, Escambia County is slowly working its way to the 10,000-positive case mark.
