New virus cases more than quadruple in a single day

HOLT, Fla., Sept. 29, 2020—What a difference a day makes.

The state of Florida went from a low of 738 new cases yesterday to more than four times as many new cases today.

Today’s single-day count spiked to an additional 3,266 new cases. That’s the highest since 3,573 on Sept. 19.

Okaloosa County had 18 total cases yesterday. The number of new cases jumped to 39 with today’s state health department update.

Baker added two new cases for a new total of 97. Crestview added 10 more and now stands at 1,024 total cases.

Holt, Laurel Hill and Milligan remained the same.

Additionally, Okaloosa County reported an additional four virus-related deaths, the first reported since Sept. 24.

Across the state, today’s single-day virus-related deaths amounted to 106. Yesterday it was only five.
