HOLT, Fla., Oct. 5, 2020—A two-vehicle accident occurred late last night when a car traveling in the wrong direction on Interstate 10 tangled with a tractor-trailer.
A 65-year-old man from Sebring, Fla., was driving east in the outside westbound lane of I-10 near mile marker 70 around 11:30 p.m. yesterday.
A semi was also in the outside westbound lane approaching mile marker 70.
According to a Florida Highway Patrol news release, the 26-year-old semi driver noticed the car headed toward him and quickly changed lanes to try to avoid a head-on collision.
The driver of the car also changed lanes, into the semi’s path. As a result, the driver’s side of the car struck the rear of the trailer.
The older driver, suspected of driving under the influence, was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
The semi driver was unharmed.
