DESTIN, Fla., May 9, 2021—A Niceville man died after rear-ending an SUV on the Mid-Bay Bridge this morning.
The 25-year-old motorcycle driver was headed north on the bridge at a high rate of speed around 4:40 a.m., according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.
As he approached a GMC Yukon, also headed north, he collided into the rear end of the SUV with four people from Kansas City, Mo., onboard, including three children ages 7, 5 and 2 years old.
The people in the Yukon were unharmed in the accident. The motorcycle driver was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the release.
The accident closed the bridge in both directions until sometime after 9 a.m. as a crash investigation was conducted and debris from the accident was removed.
