HOLT, Fla., May 27, 2021—It’s time for Holt Fire District’s Memorial Day Weekend Rib Sale.

The District will be smoking racks of ribs tomorrow and Saturday, with two smokings each day.

The first racks of ribs go into the smoker at 8 a.m. and will be available after 1 p.m. The second batch will be available after 5 p.m.

Cost is $22 a rack.

The ribs are double smoked to make them fall-off-the-bone juicy. They go into the smoker for two hours, come out and get wrapped to seal in the juices, then go back in to smoke for two more hours.

What better way to complete the meal than with side dishes from Susan’s Restaurant? Baked beans, potato salad and coleslaw will be available for purchase—$4 a pint, two for $7 or three pints for $11.

Holt Fire holds three rib sales each year to raise money for programs such as its annual Kid’s Day held the first Saturday in December.

The next sale is scheduled for Columbus Day weekend.

Directions to the rib sale: The fire station is located at 483 U.S. 90 West in Holt.  If coming from Interstate 10, take exit 45, turn north toward U.S. 90, then west at the flashing light.  The station is on the right.
