Man sought for questioning in homicide

CRESTVIEW, Fla., July 11, 2021—The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a Santa Rosa Beach man in connection with yesterday’s homicide at the Shoal River Wayside Park in Crestview.

Johnny Ray Kirk, 22, is wanted for questioning. He may be driving a red 2007 Nissan pickup with Florida tag PZHL01.

According to the OCSO, Kirk is considered to be armed and dangerous and has an active warrant for failure to appear for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in Walton County.

The OCSO advises not approaching Kirk if seen, but to call 911 or the nearest law enforcement agency.

In addition to the weapons charge, Kirk’s Walton County arrest in January also included a charge for aggravated battery.

Kirk was arrested in 2020 for failure to register as a convicted felon and obstructing justice. In 2017, he was arrested for drugs, weapon possession and probation violation.
