Man injured on Log Lake Road

HOLT, Fla., July 15, 2021—A semi driver was critically injured on Log Lake Road early this morning.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol news release, a 39-year-old Clewiston, Fla., driver of an 18-wheeler parked his rig on the east side of Log Lake Road near Pecan Lane around midnight.

As he exited the truck, he fell onto the road and was hit by a Toyota Rav4 traveling north.

Okaloosa MedFlight airlifted him to the hospital in critical condition.

The Rav4 driver, from Gulfport, Miss., was not injured in the accident, according to the release.

According to Holt Fire District Lt. Glen Arne, because the crash blocked access to Holt’s airstrip, the patient had to be transported to the vacant property behind First Baptist Church of Holt to be loaded on the Okaloosa MedFlight helicopter.
