LAUREL HILL, Fla., July 31, 2021—An Alabama woman died in a head-on collision on State Road 85 in Svea yesterday.

The woman, driving a Mitsubishi Eclipse, was traveling north on Hwy 85 just north of Grimes Road around 11 p.m. when she drifted into the southbound lane and into the path of a GMC Sierra pickup, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.

The pickup driver, from Holt, suffered minor injuries.

The accident closed both lanes of Hwy 85 for about four hours while an accident investigation was conducted.

Highway 85 was reopened about 3 a.m., according to a report by the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office.
