HOLT, Fla., Aug. 9, 2021—One of two low pressure areas the National Hurricane Center is monitoring has potential to develop into a tropical system.
Invest 94, located about 150 miles east of Barbados, now has a 70 percent chance of becoming a tropical system.
Showers and thunderstorms have become more concentrated this morning, according to the NHC, and environmental conditions are expected to be favorable for additional development.

The system is forecast to reach portions of the Lesser Antilles tonight, then move near the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico Tuesday. It’s forecast to be near Hispaniola around the middle of the week.
Tropical Depression Six is likely to form later today or tonight while 94 moves west-northwest.
Invest 93, located several hundred miles east of the Lesser Antilles, is struggling and now only has a 20 percent chance to develop further.
Tropical development of this system is becoming less likely during the next few days while it moves toward the west or west-southwest, according to the NHC.
