
HOLT, Fla., Dec. 29, 2021—Rain is in the forecast for today and tonight with scattered thunderstorms possible.
The entire National Weather Service Mobile forecast area is under a low Level 1 storm risk.
Isolated severe storms remain possible across the area through early evening.
The main impacts will be localized damaging wind gusts around 40-to-60 mph. An isolated tornado is possible should any strong storms develop, according to the NWS.
The greatest potential for storms is in the areas to the northwest. Areas in northern Alabama, northeast Mississippi and a good portion of Tennessee are under a Level 3 risk for severe thunderstorms and damaging straight-line winds.
Rain chances continue through the weekend with a 40 percent chance New Year’s Eve increasing to a 70 percent chance for New Year’s Day.
Monday’s forecast is for mostly clear skies and a high near 52 degrees. Monday’s low will be around freezing.
