Wind, some rain ring in the New Year

HOLT, Fla., Jan. 1, 2022—Windy weather with the possibility of thunderstorms is on tap for the first day of the New Year.

The National Weather Service in Mobile has issued a wind advisory in effect until midnight tonight due to south 15-to-25 mph winds with gusts up to 35 mph expected.

A Level 1 risk area encompasses the entire forecast area ahead of a cold front passing through tonight.

There is a possibility of a few isolated strong to marginally severe storms this afternoon into tomorrow morning, according to the NWS.

Localized damaging winds are the main threat, but the weather service is not ruling out the possibility of a tornado.

Behind the cold front, temperatures will begin dropping throughout the day tomorrow after reaching a high in the mid-70s.
