HOLT, Fla., Jan. 2, 2022—Record high temps will fall about 50 degrees tonight as a cold front passes through the area.
Pensacola saw a 1966 record high of 77 degrees broken as the thermometer passed through to hit 78 today.
As of 5 p.m., area temps had dropped around 10 degrees from this morning. Temperatures will quickly begin to fall behind the approaching cold front, according to the National Weather Service.
Lows should bottom out in the mid-to-low 30s tonight.
Winds are forecast to pick up areawide through tonight with gusts up to 40 mph making wind chill values possible in the mid 20s.
Cloud cover is expected to linger into at least tomorrow morning. Skies will gradually clear from southwest to northeast Monday, according to the NWS; however, temps will remain cooler with highs around 50.
Monday night low will be around 30 degrees.
