HOLT, Fla., Feb. 21, 2022–A two-vehicle accident on Interstate 10 in Holt snarled eastbound traffic during rush hour this morning.
A semi tractor trailer and a Dodge utility van collided around 5:50 a.m. at mile marker 47.
The accident happened when the semi, sitting in the outside emergency lane pulled back into the traffic lane and failed to see the utility van traveling in the outside lane.
The right front of the van hit the left rear of the semi trailer.
Both eastbound traffic lanes were closed for about 30 minutes while Holt Fire District assisted Okaloosa MedFlight’s arrival and departure as it transported the injured van driver to a local hospital for serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
The semi driver was uninjured in the accident.
Interstate traffic resumed as one lane opened up about 6:35 a.m. Both traffic lanes opened up by 8 a.m.
Okaloosa County EMS, Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office and the Florida Highway Patrol also responded to the accident.
