HOLT, Fla., April 6, 2022—The National Weather Service in Mobile has issued a fire weather watch for the northwest Florida panhandle for Friday.
A fire weather watch is issued when the combination of dry fuels and weather conditions support extreme fire danger.
The watch is in effect from Friday morning through the evening due to low relative humidity and gusty winds for Okaloosa, Santa Rosa and Escambia counties.
West winds will shift to the northwest at 13-17 mph with humidity falling to 22-27 percent.
Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly, according to the NWS. Outdoor burning is not recommended during this time.
