De-boarding early

At Chicago O’Hare International Airport Thursday, a United Airlines passenger opened an emergency door while the plane was taxing to the terminal after landing from a California flight, walked out onto the wing and slid down to the ground. Chicago Police took him into custody.

House of the Dragon

HBO released its trailer for “House of the Dragon,” the pre-story of Game of Thrones. “Dragon” is set 200 years before GoT and follows the House Targaryen. It will begin airing Aug. 22. “Thrones” ran for eight seasons from 2011-2019 and earned 59 Emmys.

FPL wants more money

Florida Power and Light is requesting another rate increase from Florida’s Public Service Commission to pay for a storm protection project designed to harden the power grid from severe weather, according to WEAR TV 3. The project is projected to cost about $369 million.

Everything’s bigger in Texas

Zeus, a 2-year-old Texas Great Dane, is officially the world’s tallest living dog, measuring in at 3 feet, 5.18 inches. He eats 12 cups of dog food a day. According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the tallest dog was also a Great Dane named Zeus who stood 3 feet, 10 inches.

Dolly rocks!

Dolly Parton will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Nov. 5. She tried to back out of the nomination saying she wasn’t “rock,” hadn’t earned the right to be there and there were other rockers who deserved it more than she did. However, she was voted in anyway. While it’s not the reason she was nominated, her rendition of Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway to Heaven,” is done in Dolly style. Parton joins Eminem, Duran Duran, Lionel Richie, Pat Benatar, Judas Priest, Carly Simon, Eurythmics and Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis as part of the 2022 inductee class.
