CRESTVIEW, Fla., Aug. 29, 2022–A mother and son were arrested Monday morning near Crestview after one fled an attempted traffic stop and the other interfered with a deputy attempting to arrest her.

A deputy spotted Venetia Gayle Berry, 62, driving a truck with the wrong license tag attached around 10:30 a.m. She refused to pull over as directed for a traffic stop on State Road 85 near Auburn Road, according to an Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office news release.
Berry ultimately stopped at her home on Cosson Circle, where it appeared she was going to flee on foot.
While attempting to take Berry into custody, Mark Alan Dandridge, 38, appeared from the yard and approached the deputy in a hostile and aggressive manner, ignoring verbal commands to not interfere with the arrest, according to the release.

As Dandridge continued approaching the deputy, he was tased to little effect. Dandridge ran and then struggled with the deputy and was tased again to no effect before taking off again.
Deputies found him hiding nearby a short time later after calling in a K-9.
Dandridge is charged with resisting arrest with violence.
The deputy was not injured in the struggle.
Berry is charged with felony fleeing and eluding, driving with a suspended or revoked license and driving with a tag not assigned. She was arrested in January for driving with a suspended license.
