Crestview man dies in traffic accident

CRESTVIEW, Fla., Sept. 15, 2022—A Crestview man died last night in a two-vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 90.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol news release, the driver of a van, 33, also from Crestview, was stopped at a stop sign at the intersection of Hwy 90 and Cavalier Drive in Crestview in front of the Emmanuel Baptist Church.

As the 63-year-old driver of a motorcycle, traveling inside the eastbound lane of Hwy 90, approached the intersection, the van driver failed to yield the right-of-way to the motorcycle and attempted to cross both eastbound lanes of traffic into the median, according to the release.

As a result, the front end of his van hit the right side of the motorcycle.

The van driver was uninjured in the accident.

Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office issued a road closure notice about the accident just before 8 p.m. The FHP release noted the incident time as 8:47 p.m.
