HOLT, Fla., Feb. 9, 2023—If it’s Super Bowl weekend, it’s rib time in Holt.
Holt Fire District’s first rib sale of the season kicks off tomorrow, rain or shine.
And although it looks to be a drippy weekend, it won’t stop the sale.
“We’re an all-weather rib team,” said rib team chief, Jim Connors. “We’ll be smoking up ribs come rain or shine.”
Ribs are $22 a rack and sell quickly.
Seasoned with a secret rub recipe, ribs weigh about 4 1/2 pounds before they go in the smoker provided by Hub City Smokehouse and Grill. After four hours, they’re fall-off-the-bone tender and juicy.
The rib team will smoke 72 racks of ribs Friday and Saturday, according to Connors, and will be available for pickup by 2 p.m. both days.
And any Super Bowl party wouldn’t be complete without huddling around side dishes. Pint sides of potato salad, baked beans and coleslaw from Susan’s Restaurant will also be available for sale for $4 a pint, two pints for $7 or three pints for $11.
The Holt Fire District would like to thank its sponsors, Susan’s Restaurant, Hub City Grill, Ultimate Waste Solutions and Renauls Center for Kidney Care for their rib sale support.
“We appreciate the support from our sponsors,” said Connors. “The rib sale would be far more difficult without them.”
Holt Fire District sponsorship packages are available at corporate or individual levels. For more information, contact Commissioner Jim Connors at 850-30-2855.
