HOLT, Fla., March 7, 2023—A Holt man was arrested on multiple charges here today after K9 units hunted him down.

Hunter Glenn Carmichael, 21, was charged with aggravated assault, firing into an occupied vehicle, discharging a firearm in public, resisting arrest and drug possession/use.

When OCSO deputies tried to serve Carmichael’s felony warrants this morning, Carmichael took off into a wooded area behind his home on Dove Run Road.

He was taken into custody about four hours later on East Street in Holt after K9 teams from OCSO, the Florida Highway Patrol, Walton County Sheriff’s Office and Okaloosa Correctional Institution tracked him down.

The original warrants were connected to a Jan. 28 shots-fired call near Dove Run Road around 1:40 a.m. The victim said Carmichael pointed a firearm at him and tracked his pickup as he passed him driving northbound on Canoe Lake Road.

He said Carmichael, who was standing along the side of the road near Dove Run, fired a bullet into the back of his pickup from approximately 50 feet away. A bullet, believed to be 9 mm, was lodged in the tailgate, approximately 3-5 inches below the top of the tailgate, 8-10 inches off center on the driver’s side. It was collected as evidence.
