Baker traffic stop leads to arrest

BAKER, Fla., April 24, 2026—A traffic stop in Baker Thursday night led to a foot chase, an arrest and dangerous drugs being taken off the street.

When Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office deputies stopped a vehicle after observing a traffic violation, front-seat passenger Tanner Johnson took off running.

After a short foot chase, he was quickly caught and taken into custody.

Deputy Caden Downing and K-9 Vojak responded to assist. K-9 Vojak conducted a free-air sniff of the vehicle and gave a positive alert.

A search of the vehicle uncovered approximately 6.8 grams of fentanyl hidden under the front passenger seat where Johnson had been sitting.

Johnson has been charged with trafficking in fentanyl, obstructing a police officer and possession of paraphernalia.
