Super speeder arrest in Crestview

CRESTVIEW, Fla., April 25, 2026—A traffic stop in Crestview early this morning by Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office deputies turned into multiple arrests after a driver was caught going 137 mph in a 65 mph zone on State Road 85 near Live Oak Church Road.

The driver, Jim Mitchell, 20, of Pensacola, was arrested and charged with excessive speed of 100-plus mph. Mitchell was driving a black 2006 Audi.

Drivers exceeding the speed limit by 50 mph or more, or drive 100 mph or more, face criminal charges, mandatory court appearances, fines and possible jail time under Florida’s Super Speeder Law.

Penalties include up to 30 days in jail and a $500 fine for a first offense. A repeat offense within 12 months means an increased jail time up to 90 days, a $1,000 fine and potential license suspension for a year.

The passenger, Akeem Malik Finlay, 25, of Baker, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance without a prescription. He was arrested in Fort Walton Beach in 2025 for failure to appear on charges of drugs and resisting arrest.

During the stop, Finlay was also placed on hold for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
