HOLT, Fla., Sept. 14, 2026—The Holt pantry is moving to a temporary location beginning with this Wednesday’s food distribution.

Holt Community Food Pantry operations will move to the building that used to be Susan’s Restaurant located at 522 U.S. Highway 90 on the southwest corner of Hwy 90 and Main Street.

On Aug. 27, a large oak tree split dropping half of it on the pantry roof and punching three holes through the ceiling inside.

Damage included ripping off the electrical box outside leaving all 11 freezers and two refrigerators without power and the building without air conditioning.

CHELCO cut power to the building the same day leaving the building on generator power until last week.

Operations continued in the tree-damaged building for the past two weeks while a crew of pantry volunteers spruced up the old restaurant and moved refrigeration and shelving in to make it ready for this Wednesday’s operations.

It’s unclear what will happen to the pantry building at this time. The pantry is an outreach mission of the First Baptist Church of Holt and leaders there are working with their insurance company to determine the fate of the building.

But for the next three months, pantry operations will continue in the new location.

The pantry is open every Wednesday from 9 a.m. to noon.
