HOLT, Fla., June 13, 2018–The disturbance in the Caribbean Sea identified by the National Hurricane Center is not expected to develop further at this time.
The system is producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms as it makes its way over the western Caribbean in a west-northwest direction.
If it continues to hold together as it crosses Central America and Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula during the next couple of days, environmental conditions could become slightly more favorable for added development as it moves into the Gulf of Mexico by the end of the week, according to the NHC.
Chances for further formation are still at 20 percent.
